This page summarizes NoShadow’s official patch notes in one place, with the changes that matter most to players. It is a summary, not a copy: for every line item, read the original notes on the Scavland Steam news page. Dates are the publication dates on Steam.

September 4: Early Access launch

Scavland entered Steam Early Access on September 4, 2026, after six years of development according to NoShadow’s launch announcement. The developer said more than 230,000 players had the game wishlisted at launch, and it built a Feedback button directly into the game for bug reports, suggestions and balance feedback. For what was confirmed before Early Access launch, see the release date and Early Access guide.

Update 0.5.169 (Day One patch)

Published the day after launch, this patch responded to the first wave of feedback:

  • Explorer game mode: more forgiving combat, faster money and reputation from Jobs, autosave, and you keep your equipment on death (not every backpack item). See our game modes guide.

  • Lit campfires heal you if your energy and hydration are good.

  • Player stamina doubled, and stash capacity was significantly increased. A second stash was added at the hospital, and all stash locations share one inventory.

  • New medical blueprints sold by Alexei: Advanced Bandage, Army AI-2, IFAK and Stimpack.

  • Guns can now explode below 30% durability instead of 50%, and armor loses durability more slowly.

The same post apologized to Chinese players: Simplified Chinese had been listed on the store page at launch by mistake, and an official localization was still in progress.

Update 0.6.0 (September 9)

  • Sleeping in beds to skip time. The world keeps running while you sleep, damage wakes you, and saving is disabled during sleep. Hotfix 0.6.2 later made sleep restore 5 health per in-game hour.

  • A rebuilt controls and keybinding system, including controller rebinding and an Action Hint Bar.

  • Jobs overhaul: track several Jobs at once, cancel from the Journal (costs 20% of the Job’s reputation reward) and turn in Fetch Jobs partially.

  • Trader ranks need less reputation, and traders became more specialized in what they buy.

  • Explorer mode earns 1.2x money when selling. Maximum stamina is 150 in Explorer and 100 in Returner and Iron Man.

  • Bunkers reset 3 hours after you leave them, and world containers respawn after 1 real-world hour.

  • An early Chinese translation was added, which NoShadow described as not final or official, while the professional localization was being finished.

Update 0.7.0 (September 16)

  • Stash expansions: buy an extra stash tab from a trader for 50,000 Rubles. Stashes and crafting tables were added to all main camps.

  • Traders pay an additional 5% sell value per Trader Rank.

  • Durability rework: weapons last much longer (many rifles about twice as many shots per durability point), and at 10% durability the hard-jam chance fell from 45% to 33%.

  • Large accuracy, range and durability buffs across the arsenal. Rifle and large rifle ammo got cheaper.

  • A rebuilt Death Screen with mode-specific options, and each run now gets its own autosave slot.

  • Green Rags were added to the starter kit, and the Thread Cutter gained a 30-round magazine.

Hotfixes 0.7.1 and 0.7.2 on the same day fixed the stash not opening for some players and rebalanced Raisa’s Jobs.

October 5: one month and the roadmap

For the one-month anniversary, NoShadow launched a new official website at scavland.com with a public roadmap. The developer said most major updates will also bring new locations, biomes, creatures, weapons and equipment, and that the roadmap will keep evolving with feedback. It also announced its first video DevLog, while keeping written changelogs.

Update 0.8.0 (October 17)

The largest update so far:

  • New languages: Polish, Turkish and Korean.

  • Dogface, a new NPC with the quest On the Road. Finishing it unlocks Dogface Rides fast travel between Arcadia, the Mire, Sontse Station, Microrayon, North Pier and the Quarry Settlement.

  • Armor penetration and per-round ammo stats, explained in our ammo and armor guide.

  • Staged reloads and inspect animations for every gun, plus automatic re-racking for bolt and pump weapons.

  • A new loot system: container quality decides which guns you find, and found guns come with random parts. A gun missing a part it needs to fire shows in red.

  • A major AI overhaul: enemies react to fire they cannot see, hear gunshots by sound range, and factions launch campaigns to capture each other’s outposts.

  • A large North expansion including the North Pier and a reworked Gunner base, a new weather cycle, and a free stamina zone over the main city.

  • Many soft-lock fixes and a fix for corrupted saves that previously could not be loaded.

For a player-facing explainer of magazine ammo memory and stash part removal, see Hotfix 0.8.8 magazine ammo memory.

Hotfix 0.8.8 (October 19)

  • Each magazine remembers its ammo type, so reloading an empty magazine refills the same type.

  • Unload, Remove Sight and Remove Muzzle work on guns inside containers, the stash and corpses.

  • Dried Steak now needs Salt, and the notes say it turns up more often in loot.

  • Accepting the quest Catching Current with a full backpack no longer loses Anatoly’s Detector. Saves stuck without it get the Detector back on load.
