FAQ

Does the map reveal as you explore?
Yes. Wishlist notes describe a World Map where roads and information are gradually revealed as you discover Zalesye.
What is Dogface Rides?
After finishing the On the Road quest, ask Dogface for a ride at Journal Map stops such as Arcadia, the Mire, Sontse Station, Microrayon, North Pier, and the Quarry Settlement.
Do NPCs show on the map?
Update 0.8.0 adds NPC pins once you get close or talk to them; zoom and hover to see names.

World map framing

The August 25, 2026 wishlist post said Scavland’s UI rebuild included a new exploration-focused World Map, where roads and information are gradually revealed as you discover Zalesye. Store framing also references a dynamic minimap and world map supporting exploration.

This wiki will not publish a fake complete pin dump. Use Zalesye overview for setting context and procedural bunkers for underground rules.

Journal Map upgrades in Update 0.8.0

Confirmed from the October 17, 2026 notes:

  • NPC Icons: NPCs appear as pins once you get close or talk to them. Zoom in and hover to see names.
  • Dogface Rides (fast travel): after finishing On the Road, ask Dogface “I need a ride” at Dogface stops on your Journal Map.
  • Named stops in the notes: Arcadia, the Mire, Sontse Station, Microrayon, North Pier, and the Quarry Settlement.
  • A stop becomes a destination once its place is on your Journal Map.
  • Ride Ticket UI shows cost, ride time, and Hunger/Thirst forecast; the bike travels roads while time passes.
  • Rides from the Quarry are free while Dogface is still there (per notes).

Hotfix 0.8.8 fixed clicking the Map tab while the map is open so it no longer breaks the map or overlays the HUD incorrectly on the Journal.

Exploration loop (editorial)

  1. Reveal roads by traveling, not by copying unverified online maps.
  2. Talk to NPCs to pin them for later Jobs and traders — factions and traders overview.
  3. Unlock Dogface before treating cross-map errands as walk-only.
  4. Treat irradiated labels and bunker icons as retreat-planning cues — radiation and Mist.
  5. Log first visits with game version; procedural bunkers will not match a friend’s screenshot.
North expansion note

Update 0.8.0 mentions a large North expansion including North Pier and a reworked Gunner base. Treat named places in notes as confirmed labels, not as coordinate packs.
