What Scavland confirms about upgrading and modifying weapons in Early Access, plus how this wiki tests builds without fake DPS.

How do weapon upgrades work in Scavland?

Official description confirms that players find weapon components in the world and install them to customize equipment — more than 300 attachments across over 25 weapons. Wishlist copy names stocks, magazines, optics, muzzle devices, grips, and other components.

Update 0.8.0 made looted guns come with random parts, and guns missing a required part show in red. Use the in-game compare action when evaluating swaps. Hotfix 0.8.8 lets Unload / Remove Sight / Remove Muzzle work inside containers, stash, and corpses.

Begin with the weapons overview and weapon customization overview. Material sources connect to ruins and bunkers only after repeatable locations are verified.

What does weapon modification mean?

Modification adapts equipment to your approach. Attachment count is confirmed, but a complete category/stat table is not published as a developer dump. Do not assume scope/magazine/barrel systems solely because other games have them — read the live UI.

Durability and repair kits changed in Update 0.7.0 — see crafting, repair, and medical blueprints.

How should configurations be compared?

Keep game version, weapon condition, upgrade level, target, range, and player bonuses consistent. Record displayed values plus practical behavior (accuracy feel, handling, reload, ammo use, repair burden). Character bonuses — if any appear — will cross-reference abilities and the skill tree. Economy cross-links: shelters, camps, and trading.

What should players avoid?

Avoid spending rare resources because an unsourced article calls one configuration “best.” This page will not publish a best build until the live game exposes enough information for repeatable comparisons. After 0.8.0, wrong ammo can matter more than a slightly better optic — read the ammo guide.
