FAQ

Does sleeping heal you in Scavland?
Yes. Hotfix 0.6.2 states that sleeping restores 5 health per in-game hour. Energy, hydration, and other stats shown on the Sleep UI should be checked in-game before a long rest.
Can you save while sleeping?
No. Official Update 0.6.0 notes say saving is disabled during sleep.
What wakes you up?
Taking damage wakes you. Being awakened by damage, Hunger, or Thirst also shows a wake reason in the Sleep interface according to the same update notes.

When was sleep added?

Sleeping arrived in Update 0.6.0 (September 9, 2026), one of the larger Early Access systems patches after launch. Before that update, there was no official bed-based time skip in the patch notes summarized on this wiki. For the full dated timeline, see the Early Access update history.

Scavland itself entered Steam Early Access on September 4, 2026. By Hotfix 0.8.8 (October 19, 2026), sleep remains part of the survival loop alongside campfires, stash management, and Jobs.

What does the Sleep interface show?

NoShadow’s 0.6.0 notes describe a dedicated Sleep interface built for mouse/keyboard and controller. Before you commit to a rest, the UI shows how your stats will be affected when you wake. Treat that preview as the authoritative forecast for the rest you are about to take — do not assume healing or hunger drain rates beyond what the notes and UI display.

Confirmed player-facing rules from the notes:

  • You sleep in beds to skip time.
  • The world continues running while you sleep (NPCs, creatures, and other systems keep moving under the Life system framing elsewhere on the wiki).
  • Taking damage wakes you.
  • Saving is disabled during sleep.
  • Being awakened by damage, Hunger, or Thirst displays a wake reason on the Sleep UI.

How much health does sleep restore?

Hotfix 0.6.2 (September 10, 2026) added: sleeping restores 5 health per in-game hour. That is a confirmed numeric rule from official notes. Other heal sources — for example lit campfires when Energy and Hydration are good (Day One patch 0.5.169) — are separate systems. Compare them in stash, inventory, and campfire healing.

Whether sleep also restores Energy/Hydration, how long a max rest can last, and how Hunger/Thirst interact with long sleeps beyond the wake-on-Hunger/Thirst statement are still TBD until logged against a named build.

Why sleep matters for exploration

Time skip is not only a heal button. Because the world keeps running, a long sleep can change what you find when you wake — patrols move, Jobs advance on their own timers elsewhere in the notes, and bunker reset timers (3 hours after you leave, per 0.6.0 notes cited in update history) keep ticking. Pair sleep planning with:

Controller and bed interaction bugs (historical)

Hotfix 0.6.3 fixed not being able to interact with Zoran because of a bed sleep interaction conflict. If an NPC near a bed seems unreachable, try moving away from the sleep prompt first — then re-check after any newer hotfix.

Practical checklist (editorial)

  1. Confirm you are at a usable bed and read the Sleep UI forecast.
  2. Do not rely on saving mid-sleep — finish stash work and Journal updates first.
  3. Expect damage, Hunger, or Thirst to interrupt the rest.
  4. After waking, re-check ammo, armor, and Job markers before leaving camp.
  5. Log any unexpected heal/hunger numbers in your own playtest notes with the build version.
